Deep Roots. Dark Secrets. Welcome to the Black Branches universe...

Corbie Fetch — Sat, 03 Oct 2026 13:02:25 GMT

Hey Everyone! I AM SO GRATEFUL! Thank you again, all of my subscribers, readers… you are all so important to me. I appreciate you beyond measure!

When I first introduced you to Draper’s Ridge in the free prequel novella, you got a small taste of the shadows lingering just beyond the ridges. But every grand universe has to start somewhere.

For our protagonist, Juniper Scott, the true journey begins with a single realization: the world she thinks she knows is built on a lie.

In this first book, Juniper is thrust into a reality she never asked for. She isn’t a seasoned warrior, a lone wolf, or a gutsy kind of woman - she’s a mother, discovering a sudden, unbridled power flowing through her veins, tied to generational secrets her family spent decades trying to bury.

From the blackened branches of the willow tress scattered across her farm, she uncovers the truth and a hidden world beneath the shadows of secrets. Dark Whispers is a story about the weight of truth, the price of power, and the lengths we will go to protect the people we love.

If you love your urban fantasy wrapped in a heavy, moody Southern Gothic atmosphere and mysteries that unravel with every page, this series was built for you.

Here is a taste of what happens next...

Corbie Fetch — Wed, 09 Sep 2026 14:23:22 GMT

First of all, a HUGE welcome to all of our new readers who have joined this circle the last 2 weeks, WOW! Whether you found me through BookFunnel or FaceBook, I am incredibly grateful to have you here.

Writing a universe this vast has been a wild ride, and seeing readers dive into the prequel has made every-late night writing session worth it!

A Quick Peek Behind the Veil

While the prequel is giving you a glimpse on the surface, things go much deeper.

In this world, the history isn’t just past events-it’s a living force! The local stories whispered in secret aren’t just myths and legends. They are warnings.

For example, the upcoming series, Black Branches of the Willows, has some true southern lore involved. Did you know that willows are known to thrive in places that Southern folklore often calls “spirit traps”?

YES REALLY! The long sweeping branches of the weeping willows aren’t just pretty to look at, but are actual curtains said to catch wandering ghosts and restless spirits passing through the night. The areas that willows thrive the most are known to be in spots that the Veil is thin between the living and the dead.

It is believed, if you are sitting beneath the weeping willows at night, it’s not the wind you hear rustling through the branches, but rather it is spirits whispering their secrets or mourning their past lives.

EXCLUSIVE SNEAK PEEK INTO BOOK 1: Dark Whispers

The events of the prequel set a dangerous chain reaction, and in the south, the dirt doesn’t forget. If a secret is buried in the mud, the roots will collect it, and the trees will tell the tale. You can’t escape your fate, as you will see as the story unfolds.

Just a short excerpt:

______________________________________________________________________

“Cassie! Get back!” Juniper screamed. She lunged forward, grabbing her sister by the jacket and forcibly ripping her away from the bank. The momentum threw them both backward, and they fell hard into the soft clover close by.

“Geez, June! I mean, I love my Hokas too, but they will dry!” Cassie scrambled up, aggressively stomping the creek water from her soaked sock.

“You didn’t see anything? Feel anything just now?” Juniper stood up, her chest heaving as a massive adrenaline rush surged through her veins.

“What are you talking about? I felt cold water soaking my foot,” Cassie replies, continuing to stomp.

“No. That’s not what I meant.” Juniper caught her breath, stepping closer to the blighted bank. “Several weeks ago, I walked down here and saw these black trees scattered along the creek. I stepped into the water, just as you did. But I went completely blind.”

Cassie’s eyes widened, her annoyance fading into deep concern.

“When I say I went blind, I mean it was like I grabbed onto something invisible, and it grabbed me right back,” Juniper explains. “I couldn’t hear or see a thing, but I could feel the sadness. It was a crushing, suffocating despair I have never experienced in my entire life.”

………………………….

She stepped a fraction closer to the water. Her instinct screamed at her to test it again—she had to know if it was real. Juniper reached out, her fingers bruising the blackened wood as her foot stepped firmly back into the stream.
